In 1989, George Bush gave a speech about crack. During the speech he pulled out a bag of crack and said “this bag was seized right across the street from the White House in Lafayette park.”
Turns out, his speech writers had the idea to pull out a prop during his speech and in order to make it believable they had the DEA plant crack on this random 18 year old black kid. They lured him there. He didn’t even know where the White House or Lafayette park was. When he got there, they arrested them.

Facts. DC in the ‘80s crack era was wild, the Rayful Edmund era. Government and cops were doing a lot of crooked shit. Cops were killing and beating up Black folks and planting crack on them on a regular basis as well. Dave Chapelle joked about it in his “Killing Them Softly” stand-up, but it was actually a real practice.
Gary Webb died by two shots to the head. It was ruled a suicide. It’s very unusual for a suicide victim to shoot themselves twice ……

I mean, you could’ve been having the worst day ever but a smile from someone, one line of encouragement anything that could potentially lift your spirits like yes the day has been bad but that tiny glimmer of goodness reminds you of all the good things too, coaxing you to move forward. little moments full of love or kindness make such a big difference.
